John Washington III Says Politicians' Battles Are Not the People's Responsibility
John Washington III said elected officials who, in his words, passed laws taking money from people's pockets and stripping away their rights cannot now ask the American people to fight their battles for them — he said he is fighting for the people, not for political careers.
John Washington III, a 2028 presidential candidate, said politicians have for years passed laws that take more money from people's pockets and strip away their rights, and he rejected the idea that the public should now rally to those same politicians' defense. He wrote: "WHERE WERE YOU WHEN WE NEEDED YOU?"
John Washington III said voters elect officials to fight for them, not to become part of the system hurting them. He wrote: "We elected you to fight for US, not become part of the very system hurting us!" — and argued that every election, politicians ask for votes, money and loyalty, then turn their backs on the people once they win.
John Washington III said he is done fighting to save political careers while everyday Americans struggle to protect their rights and freedoms. He wrote: "YOUR POLITICAL BATTLES ARE NOT OUR RESPONSIBILITY!" He closed: "YOU WORK FOR US. WE DON'T WORK FOR YOU!" — signing the statement with his name, his 2028 candidacy, and the line "THE PEOPLE COME FIRST. PERIOD!"
