FAU Men's Soccer Closes the Regular Season With a 3-2 Win at UAB and a Postseason Berth
The Owls built a three-goal lead in Birmingham, survived Tony Kim's two goals in three minutes and a final-minute shot off the crossbar, and locked up their place in the American Conference tournament.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Florida Atlantic closed its regular season with a 3-2 win at UAB on Sunday night, a result the Owls needed: FAU entered the finale in a three-way tie for fifth in the American Conference standings and required a win or a draw to secure a postseason berth, FAU Athletics said. The Owls got the win the hard way, building a three-goal lead and then holding on through a furious finish.
UAB, playing its Senior Night finale, rallied from 3-0 down to 3-2 when Tony Kim scored twice in a three-minute span late in the match, BVM Sports reported from UAB Athletics' account. The Blazers nearly completed the comeback in the final minute, when Ole Jessen's shot struck the crossbar instead of the net. UAB's season ends at 5-5-5 overall and 2-3-3 in conference play.
FAU finishes the regular season 6-2-7 overall and 3-2-3 in the American, and moves on to the conference tournament: the quarterfinals begin Nov. 6, with the semifinals and championship set for Nov. 11 and 14. The all-time series with UAB, tied 7-7-1 before Sunday, now tilts to the Owls.
