Gold Glove Awards 2026: Rays Shortstop Taylor Walls Wins His First, Marlins' Javier Sanoja a Finalist at Third
Florida placed one winner in Sunday night's Gold Glove announcement — Tampa Bay's Taylor Walls at shortstop — while Miami's Javier Sanoja finished as a finalist and no Marlin took an award home.

Major League Baseball announced the 2026 Rawlings Gold Glove winners on Sunday night, and Florida's one winner plays in Tampa Bay: Rays shortstop Taylor Walls won the American League award at his position for the first time, ahead of finalists Andres Gimenez and Bobby Witt Jr., with 21 Defensive Runs Saved on the season. The winners were chosen 75 percent by votes from all 30 managers and up to six coaches per team and 25 percent by SABR's Defensive Index, MLB Trade Rumors reported; nine of the 20 winners are first-timers.
Miami's night was finalists and near-misses. Marlins third baseman Javier Sanoja was one of three finalists at National League third base, where the award went to Alex Bregman for the second time in his career. And in its takeaways, OC Sports HQ flagged the night's notable snub as Marlins catcher Joe Mack, who was not named a finalist at all despite leading the majors with 26 runners caught stealing after a May debut and ranking in the 84th percentile in pitch framing, per Baseball Savant.
Boston and Arizona led the field with three winners each. The Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno won his second Gold Glove at NL catcher and, with his batting title, became only the second catcher ever to win both in the same season, joining Joe Mauer. Other repeat winners included first basemen Matt Olson and Christian Walker, each winning a fourth Gold Glove, and Boston right fielder Wilyer Abreu, who won his third straight.
