Flash Flood Warning Searches Rise as a Flood Watch Holds for Palm Beach County Through Monday, With 3 to 5 Inches of Rain Possible
The National Weather Service in Miami has all of Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade counties under a Flood Watch from Sunday morning through Monday afternoon — bands of heavy rain could drop 3 to 5 inches in scattered spots, and 5 to 7 in isolated ones, on a Sunday that stood at 75.3 degrees with a 74% rain chance.

WEST PALM BEACH — A Flood Watch is in effect for all of Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade counties from 10 a.m. Sunday through Monday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service in Miami. An upper-level low moving over Florida will pull in additional moisture, generating bands of heavy rainfall that could drop 3 to 5 inches across scattered locations, with isolated spots possibly seeing 5 to 7 inches in just a matter of hours, the weather service said. Street flooding and road closures are the main concerns, especially if the heaviest rain falls near the coast during times of high tide.
The rain is already measuring up in the county's northwest. A flood advisory for northwestern Palm Beach County reported 3 to 4 inches of rain and water over roadways, according to the weather service's Sunday reporting. Along the coast, the hazards from the morning file continue on a longer clock than first posted: coastal flood advisories for the southeast Florida coast now run until 7 p.m. Monday, breaking waves of 5 to 7 feet are expected in Palm Beach and Broward counties until 7 a.m. Monday, and the risk of dangerous rip currents stays high through Tuesday evening.
On the station's live weather feed, read at about 3:32 p.m. CT, West Palm Beach stood at 75.3 degrees with a feels-like temperature of 72 under a rain code carrying a 74% precipitation chance; Sunday's high is 80.8 with a low of 71.1, and the day carries a thunderstorm code. Monday stays wet — showers, a high of 75.9, a low of 70.7 and a 73% rain chance — which is the window the Flood Watch covers, before Election Day on Tuesday, which carries a thunderstorm code at a 56% chance, a high of 81.3 and a low of 75.5. Drivers should never cross water of unknown depth, and anyone in a flood-prone area should be ready to act quickly if flooding develops, the weather service advises.
