Palm Beach County's Final Pre-Election Tally: 373,695 Ballots Cast, 42 Percent Turnout Before a Single Election Day Vote
More than two in five of the county's 889,521 registered voters have already voted — 222,108 in person early and 151,587 by mail — and 45,069 requested mail ballots were still outstanding Monday morning.

WEST PALM BEACH — Palm Beach County goes into Election Day with 373,695 ballots already cast, a pre-Election Day turnout of 42.01 percent of the county's 889,521 registered voters, according to the county turnout tracker compiled from Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections data and updated Monday morning. Of those ballots, 222,108 were cast in person during early voting and 151,587 came back by mail.
The party split in the early tally is wide. Registered Democrats have cast 167,528 ballots, which is 53.31 percent of the county's 314,235 registered Democrats. Registered Republicans have cast 115,424, or 37.77 percent of the county's 305,579 registered Republicans, and voters registered with other parties or none have cast 90,743, or 33.65 percent. Another 515,826 registered voters had not yet voted as of the Monday morning update — the pool from which Tuesday's Election Day turnout will come.
The last loose end of the early vote is the mail. Of 196,656 mail ballots requested in the county, 151,587 had been returned by Monday morning, a return rate of 77.08 percent, leaving 45,069 still outstanding. A mail ballot that is not back does not count: ballots must reach the Supervisor of Elections' main office by 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3, and they cannot be dropped off at an Election Day polling place. Polls are open Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and voters who did not vote early must vote at their assigned precinct.
