West Palm Beach Weather Monday Night: 76 Degrees, and Election Day's Rain Chance Is Falling in the Live Feed as the Week Dries Out (West Palm Beach Watch News)

West Palm Beach went into Election Eve at 75.9 degrees and overcast, the station's live feed read on Monday night, with the day's high at 80.2 and Monday's rain chance still at 68 percent under the flood watch that has governed the county since the weekend. The weekend's arithmetic is now in the National Weather Service's totals, carried by Florida Today: 4.28 inches of rain at Palm Beach International Airport in 24 hours, and 8 to 13 inches in Palm Beach Gardens, especially along the Turnpike in the Belvedere area - against 11.9 inches in West Melbourne, the state's wettest reading. More rounds of showers were expected into Monday evening, NWS Miami said, with the heaviest rain not hitting the entire area.

For Tuesday's voters, the trend is the story. The station's live feed models Election Day markedly drier than Monday - a 32 percent rain chance, a high of 81 and a low of 74.9 - a reading well below the 60 to 70 percent the Weather Service was quoting for Palm Beach County earlier in the day (carried in this station's SQ-20261102-038). The two outlooks agree on direction if not on number: the stalled boundary that pumped tropical moisture over the coast all weekend is losing its support, and Election Day carries showers rather than another flooding rain. An umbrella in the precinct line remains the prudent call; a boat, for the first time in three days, is not.

Behind the election, the week dries in earnest. The feed puts Wednesday's rain chance at 27 percent with a high of 82.9, then 8 percent Thursday, 4 percent Friday, 6 percent Saturday and 15 percent Sunday, with highs climbing from the low 80s to 85 on Saturday and 86.4 on Sunday. That is the first fully dry weekend profile the feed has shown since the deluge began - and for the Greenacres crews still pumping out the Learjet crater and the Brightline inspectors waiting on Brevard County water to recede, it is the forecast that matters most.
