Gold Glove Winners 2026: Rays Shortstop Taylor Walls Wins His First, and No Marlin Makes the List (West Palm Beach Watch News)

WEST PALM BEACH — Tampa Bay Rays shortstop Taylor Walls is a Gold Glove winner for the first time. Major League Baseball announced the 2026 Gold Glove Awards on Sunday night, honoring the best defensive player at each position in each league, and Walls — Florida's lone winner — was one of nine first-time winners, Reuters reported through Field Level Media. Milwaukee's Brice Turang collected his second career Gold Glove at second base, and his teammate Jackson Chourio won his first in left field for the World Series champion Brewers.

Miami's finalist did not make the list. The Marlins' Xavier Edwards Sanoja had been a National League utility finalist in the preview this desk filed Sunday, but the utility award went to Atlanta's Mauricio Dubon, his record third since the category was introduced in 2022 — and no Marlins player appears anywhere on the winners list. The Arizona Diamondbacks and Boston Red Sox had the most players honored, with three each, and the Mets' Nolan McLean became the first rookie pitcher ever to win a Gold Glove.

The rest of the winners — American League: Tanner Bibee, Dillon Dingler, Christian Walker, Cole Young, Caleb Durbin, Cody Bellinger, Ceddanne Rafaela, Wilyer Abreu and Ezequiel Duran. National League: Gabriel Moreno, Matt Olson, Alex Bregman, Geraldo Perdomo, Pete Crow-Armstrong and Corbin Carroll, alongside McLean, Turang, Chourio and Dubon. Olson and Walker each won their fourth career Gold Glove. Managers and coaches vote within their own league and cannot vote for their own players, making up 75 percent of the vote, with the SABR Defensive Index accounting for the other 25 percent.
