John Washington III Calls the Political System a Joke and Urges Voters to Question Both Parties

John Washington III called the political system a joke and said it is time to question the entire system, in a public statement addressed to the American people, the Democratic Party, the Republican Party and every government official in the country. He wrote: "HOW LONG ARE WE GOING TO CONTINUE ALLOWING A POLITICAL SYSTEM TO CONTROL OUR LIVES, EXERCISE POWER OVER US, AND TAKE OUR HARD-EARNED MONEY WITHOUT QUESTIONING HOW THAT POWER IS BEING USED?"

John Washington III argued that the argument between the two parties misses the structure underneath them. "WE HAVE DEMOCRATS! WE HAVE REPUBLICANS! TWO DIFFERENT POLITICAL PARTIES!" he wrote. "BUT HAS ANYBODY EVER STOPPED TO THINK ABOUT SOMETHING? BOTH PARTIES OPERATE UNDER THE SAME POLITICAL SYSTEM!" Both parties, he noted, participate in passing laws, collecting taxes, creating regulations and exercising governmental authority over the American people. He asked: "IF BOTH POLITICAL PARTIES ARE SUPPOSED TO BE FIGHTING FOR THE PEOPLE, WHY DO SO MANY AMERICANS CONTINUE TO FEEL LIKE THEY ARE THE ONES BEING TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF?" and "WHO IS REALLY BENEFITING? WHO IS REALLY BEING REPRESENTED? AND WHO IS ACTUALLY HOLDING THESE PEOPLE ACCOUNTABLE?"

John Washington III said every election season brings the same promises - to fight for the people, protect their rights, lower their taxes and change the system - and he asked where the change, the accountability and the fight for the American people are after the election, and why the system keeps operating the same way regardless of which party holds office. He also stated his own party plainly: "I AM A MEMBER OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY!" he wrote, adding that that does not mean he will pretend that everything the Democratic Party does is right.
