Urban League Buses Are Driving Palm Beach County Voters to the Polls Through the Final Early-Voting Weekend
The Urban League of Palm Beach County has run buses through West Palm Beach neighborhoods for eight hours a day since early voting opened Oct. 19, carrying voters free to nearby polling locations in the Tamarind, Australian Avenue and 45th Street areas.

The Urban League of Palm Beach County is driving voters to polling locations on buses that have run through neighborhoods for eight hours a day since early voting opened on Oct. 19, according to a National Urban League report published Saturday morning and read in full by this desk. The report follows West Palm Beach voter James Sylvester, who was getting a free ride to cast his early ballot instead of driving himself.
On the West Palm Beach bus, Latoya Stevenson greeted voters and described the route as published in the report. "We go up and down Australian, 45th street, the Tamarind area so we take those voters in the Downtown West Palm Beach area to the polls," she said in the report. She said of voting: "It's extremely important, it's a way for us to communicate and share our voice with those who are in office." The report said there is also a bus driving voters in other cities.
The rides run into the final weekend of early voting in Palm Beach County. Early voting ends Sunday, Nov. 1, with sites open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., before Election Day on Tuesday, Nov. 3, when voters must use their assigned precinct polling place.
