West Palm Beach Weather: Coastal Flood Advisory Now Runs Through Sunday Evening as Halloween Showers Build (West Palm Beach Watch News)

Palm Beach County's coastal alerts have been extended into the new week. The Weather.com listing for West Palm Beach, read this morning, shows a Coastal Flood Advisory in effect until 7 p.m. EST on Sunday, Nov. 1, a High Surf Advisory from 2 p.m. EDT Saturday until 7 a.m. EST Monday, a Rip Current Statement running until Monday morning, and a Small Craft Advisory for boaters over the same window. Weather.com put West Palm Beach at 80 degrees and mostly cloudy early Saturday, with east winds at 18 mph gusting to 26 mph.

For Halloween itself, the National Weather Service in Miami expects coastal showers to build through the day. The Palm Beach Post reported, citing lead meteorologist Sammy Hadi, a 70 to 80 percent chance of rain during the afternoon and evening hours on Saturday, Oct. 31, as a disturbance moves across the Gulf, with a 30 to 40 percent chance of thunderstorms on Halloween night; it likely will not rain all day, with the highest chances peaking later. Hadi said gusty coastal winds could lead to a high risk of rip currents and waves as high as 8 feet off the coast on Saturday, and that rainfall could add to the minor to moderate coastal flooding left by the king tides.

The station's own live weather feed is drier for Saturday itself, putting the high at 82.7 degrees with a low of 76.2 and a 29 percent precipitation chance, before the wetter turn the other forecasts also show: the feed has Sunday at 81.7 degrees with a 59 percent chance and thunderstorms on Monday with a 76 percent chance, while the Post reported Sunday rain chances of 80 to 90 percent. Families heading out Saturday evening should plan for passing showers and wet, ponded streets in low-lying coastal areas, and beachgoers should stay out of the surf while rip currents remain a risk through Monday morning.
