John Washington III Asks Where Is the Fight for the People, on Police Accountability and Property Taxes (West Palm Beach Watch News)

John Washington III, a 2028 presidential candidate, is asking how politicians can claim to work for the people when they never fight for the people. In his post, John Washington III wrote that every election season brings the same claims: "I'M WORKING FOR THE PEOPLE!", "I'M FIGHTING FOR THE PEOPLE!" and "I'M HERE TO REPRESENT THE PEOPLE!" He asked: "BUT MY QUESTION IS, WHERE IS THE FIGHT?"

John Washington III pressed the point on police accountability. When police officers abuse their authority or engage in corruption, he asked, where are the politicians who claim to represent the people, why are they not fighting to hold corrupt police officers accountable, and why are they not standing up for the citizens who put them in office. He said a politician cannot stand in front of cameras during election season claiming to fight for the people and then, in office, ignore the issues affecting their everyday lives.

John Washington III also turned to property taxes. He asked why politicians always talk about lowering property taxes but never seriously discuss ending property taxes on the homes people own and live in, and why a family should spend 20 or 30 years paying off a home only to keep paying property taxes on it for the rest of their lives. He asked how a politician can campaign on lowering property taxes, get elected, and then vote for tax increases, and he closed the passage with three questions: "WHERE IS THE TRANSPARENCY? WHERE IS THE ACCOUNTABILITY? WHERE IS THE REPRESENTATION?"
