Is There School on Election Day in Palm Beach County? No Classes for Students on Tuesday, Nov. 3
The School District of Palm Beach County lists Tuesday, Nov. 3, as a professional and duty day for staff - which means no classes for students on Election Day. Polls are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at assigned precincts.

It is one of the most-searched questions in the country on election eve, and for Palm Beach County families the answer is simple: there is no school for students on Tuesday, Nov. 3, Election Day. The School District of Palm Beach County's 2026-27 key dates calendar lists Nov. 3 as a Secondary PDD/Elementary Duty Day - a professional development and duty day for middle and high school staff and a work day for elementary staff - with no classes for students, the Palm Beach Post reported. Private and charter schools set their own calendars, so families in those schools should check with their school directly.
The closure is built for voting: parents do not have to get children to school and get to the polls on the same morning. Polls in Palm Beach County are open Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Election Day voting is at assigned precincts only - any-site early voting ended Sunday, Nov. 1. Voters can confirm their precinct at votepalmbeach.gov, and anyone still in line at 7 p.m. may vote. Mail ballots cannot be dropped at a polling place; they must reach the Supervisor of Elections main office by 7 p.m. Tuesday (branch offices by 5 p.m.).
November gives students two more breaks close behind: schools are out again on Wednesday, Nov. 11, for Veterans Day, and the week-long Thanksgiving break runs Monday, Nov. 23, through Friday, Nov. 27, the Post reported. Monday, Nov. 2, is a normal school day - the last day of the first elementary trimester on the district calendar.
