Flash Flood Warning: 2.5 to 3.5 Inches Fell on Northeast Palm Beach County Sunday Evening (West Palm Beach Watch News)

WEST PALM BEACH — The National Weather Service in Miami put northeastern Palm Beach County under a Flash Flood Warning on Sunday evening, from 5:23 p.m. ET until 7:15 p.m. ET, after Doppler radar and automated rain gauges recorded 2.5 to 3.5 inches of rain across the warned area, with another 1 to 2 inches possible in the following hours. The warning covered West Palm Beach, Palm Beach Gardens, Riviera Beach, North Palm Beach, Lake Park, Haverhill, Cloud Lake, the Port of Palm Beach, Golden Lakes and Downtown West Palm Beach, among other communities.

The warning sat inside the larger Flood Watch that NWS Miami keeps over Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade counties through 3 p.m. Monday: scattered spots may pick up 3 to 5 inches of rain through Monday, with isolated totals of 5 to 7 inches, and street flooding and road closures are the expected impacts. Around the coast, a Coastal Flood Advisory runs until 7 p.m. Monday, a High Surf Advisory until 7 a.m. Monday, a high rip current risk through Tuesday evening and a Small Craft Advisory until 10 a.m. Tuesday.

The station's live weather feed read 76.1 degrees on Sunday evening, with Monday's high at 77.8 degrees and a 67% precipitation chance. Election Day, Tuesday, carries a thunderstorm code in the feed, a high of 83.4 degrees and a 56% precipitation chance — voters heading to assigned precincts should plan for rain gear alongside the 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. polling hours.
